It’s About Working Together

The goal of this sustainability conversation blog is to offer a pro-active forum for planning, developing, funding, and fostering smart Green Living practices and green cultural celebrations in the  Northwest Islands of Washington. By using this forum to pro-actively cross-connect our locally identified needs with improved solution-oriented capacities, One Island’s goal it to engender a catalyst that can turn ‘green living’ into more than a catch phrase. The One Island program’s goal is to help us find more effective ways to  interweave green living as an integrated, rewarding way of life in our homes, workplaces, and local communities.

Island by island, organization by organization, family-to-family, we already hold a wealth of pioneering sustainability experience and knowledge  between us -yet there are also important questions and needs that we are each seeking answers for.  What works? What hasn’t worked? What might work better? We invite you to share your experiences, your best practices, your unmet needs, and your vision of local sustainable self sufficient and inter-island food, energy, economic, health and cultural system opportunities.

While we are very fortunate to live in such a majectically powerful place here in the Pacific Northwest - enjoying locations that inspire living with deep respect and in closer harmony with the natural world - we  do face some formidable challenges along the path to sustainability, so let’s work together to co-create a smarter future.
